New to the Manual (Need Tips)
Just bought my first 6 speed camaro. had a 93 z28 AT now i bought a 98 ss 6 speed. All stock except for lid, and flowmaster exhaust. Im taking it to irwindale or LACR in a month or so. Im racing my sisters boyfriend in his WRX. How should i launch the car? In first or second gear? And a what RPM? Dump the clutch or pedal it? I just dont know. It has nitto tires relatively new.
How would i burn out in the water box?
Any info or pointers would be great.
Thanks

He's got nittos - heat them up
do you have a built rear-end? if not, you will soon!
if you've got Nittos you should be able to launch decently high, ~3k or so. If they're spinning, remember this - burn the clutch, not the tires. That'll help you keep the 60's down.
Shifting - here's my personal technique:
1-2 - hold the shifter like a pistol, thumb on top, pull back and toward your hip
2-3 - place heel of palm on shifter handle, hand open (like you're waving hi to your radio), push straight forward (lets the shifter springs center the shifter)
3-4 - palm facing down (knuckles forward), fingers pointing down to the ground, use fingers to pull straight back
4-5 - open rear, install less gear

Im just worried about launching the car out of first.
Should i let the clutch out just enough to feel it grab then wait for green and roll on the power or just hammer it down?
What would be a good tire pressure while racing?
With my old camaro i would run at about 19-22 tire pressure.

You're going to get walked off the line if the kid can drive. If it doesnt have an upgraded turbo, you should be able to walk him down before the end of the track unless he can drive his *** off.
