Default Pulley Squealing?

So the other day i was helping my buddy put an underdrive pulley on his '01 LS1 camaro. We got it all back together and started the car to hearing a squealing noise. we thought it was the belt at first because the guy he bought the pulley from gave him the used belt to go with it so we went and bought a new belt. Nothing still squealing so then we thought we might had messed up the belt tensioner in the process since it seeemed like the noise was comign from that so we went and bought a new belt tnesioner and still squealing. Does anybody know what in the crap is making this noise and why? thanks for the help guys.

There isn't any way that the new pulley needs an a spacer behind the new underdrive pulley is there? My buddy looked at it jsut a little bit ago and thinks that it isn't lined up right and thinks that it needs a spacer so I was wondering if any of you guys had heard about any such thing?

Most likely the tensioner. My car sounds like it has a Kenne Bell on it; now it is just a matter of figuring out which tensioner is causing it. I am gonna run the car without the AC belt and see if that eliminates the noise or not. Mine has done it ever since I bought it at 10,000 miles and it just got louder when I put on the UD pulley.

my car is the one squealing, and i ran it without the ac belt but it still squeals. i had my stepdad and his brother look at it and they both agreed that the crank pulley is mounted too deep on the crank and that it should stick out from the motor about 1/4" more. WTF??

i took my ac belt off.. there's only 1 tensioner on the main drive belt, and one stationary pulley.

That's what I meant. One on the AC, and one on the Alt/Powersteering belt. As far as the pully sticking out, it should have like 1mm space between it and the timming cover. 1/4" is way too far out.

if you did the pulley install correctly the pulley should be right where its suppose to be, 240ftlbs. of torque will put anything in its place. i get some squealing from my pulley 2, i dont like it but its not so bad as to where i cant stand it. i really think the problem lies elsewhere.

dude, the pulley is INSET! i measured it, its a full 1/4" inside of where its supposed to be. I did the install correctly, if i didnt get enough pressure on the bolt, it would be sticking out, not set too far in.
