Default Hooker LT Headers...

I'm new to this board, so I's like to say thanks to everyone in advance that can help me... I'm gonna order the Hooker LT's for my 02 Z28 monday. I need to know what all I need to get first... What pipe should I get with it, the hooker Y-Pipe? And I was reading that someone said they do not make these LT's for an 02, is this true? And where is the best place to order this stuff? And I'm gonna be installing them myself, are they hard to install?

Thanks,
Jeff

How is it goin' Jeff? Congrats on being a new member of the baddest ls1 information site on the net. Anyhow, the Hooker header question. I helped a friend of mine install a set on his '98 Z28 this past weekend, "Wariv, on this site." It was a breeze. He used the Hooker off road y. we had a small problem with getting the the y-pipe to seal on the pass. side header. Other than that, it went great. As far as Hooker not making a set for our cars, '01-'02. You are correct. The only reason being that we do not have the EGR that the '98-'00 have, so we wouldn't need the EGR tubes on these headers. We have a different cam, some say ls6 cam and some say truck cam. I dont know, but that is why we dont need EGR to meet emissions standards. With that being said, you can still use the '98-'00 headers on an '01-'02 f-body. You can find a block off plate set for the EGR tubes somewhere. I have no idea where. Can someone help me out with this one? Anyhow, it is possible, i have seen it. Good Luck

The 98-99 headers will fit on the 02. Put them on mine. You've got a couple of choices with the AIR tubes. Bend the crap out of yours and make them fit. Buy some off of someone that has a 98-99. Get someone to program out the AIR light from your PCM, Or, just live with the SES light. I bought 98-99 air tubes.
As far as Y pipe. I went with the Hooker.
Where to order? Look to the right------->
I got mine from LS1Speed.
Welcome to the board. Just an FYI. You may want to try out the search feature up above. Some of the members will bite your head off for asking the same questions that someone else just asked. It'll get you a quicker answer. Lot's to learn hear. Do some reading. And enjoy your car...

I have mine in the garage and waiting for my y-pipe. I was wondering how to take the paint off of them before I install'em? I don't want the paint to fall off inside the engine bay. Any advice!?

Hooker LT's are pretty easy to install. I just installed mine two weeks ago. Loud as hell but very nice. . For being hard or not its pretty easy just have another person there to help you. And also follow the instructions. When you read "have the car atleast 36 in. off the ground min." make sure you do this you do need that much room to fit the headers up in. It would be easier if you just had a lift. The car will be loud as hell with the ORY-pipe at WOT. You can keep it quite around the cops if you need to.
