Default MACS WORTH THE MONEY?

I have a 98 ss with the m6. I have the loudmouth exhaust and want to know if the macs headers withe the cats will be worth it. How much horsepower have you guys gained from the install of the macs with cats. I do not plan on doing any heads or cam work in the future. Let me know what you guys think. Also if you guys have any sound files I would like to hear the loudmouth with the macs.

Thanks
Sweet98ss

No if, and's or but's about it! All I can say is get the Macs!

I would however look into getting another brand of cats. The flow rate of the Mac cats leave a lot to be desired!

I couldn't be happier with my MAC's. I don't even have all the bolt ons and I'm dynoing higher then most full bolt on guys with long tubes. I don't know how much I picked up from the headers since I never dynoed before them, but I am confident they gave a good gain. As for running them with cats... Oklahoma doesn't have inspections so I don't know. I have heard the cats that come with the headers from MAC suck, so I'd look into getting them with an offroad y-pipe and buying Random Technology cats to use... or go ***** out and run without cats.

I have macs and i picked up alot.I never dynod it before the macs but with Macs, lid, filter and a MAF translator my car ran 12.5 at 114 on regular radials at 3650#.I still have the stock cat back to.
My opinion is that they are the best bang for the buck.I would think it would be very loud with the loud mouth and headers and ORP.

yes i would definetly say the macs are worth it, they are good quality headers, that make solid power and dont have all the "issues" that some times some with long tube headers

macs are a good bang for the buck. with macs, ORP i increased my 1/4 speed by 2 MPH
with simple bolt ons and nittos, i was beating 03' Corbras and bolt on C5's

just so u know macs have the smallest primary tubes (1"5/8) 4 more torque if u want more horsepower go for 1"3/4 primaries flp, slp, or what i recommend hookers. Now those are a bang 4 the buck. if u do get mac headers don't get their cats the stock cats flow better.
Mac cats are like:293 cfm
stock cats are : 303cfm

Thanks for all the replys. Sounds like the headers are definetely worth it. The only problem is Ive heard the loudmouth with mac headers has a rasp. Does any one have any sound files with this. Did any of you have this problem. I dont want to be playing around trying to get rid of it. Let me know what you guys think.

Macs are the good old 1 3/4" primaries just as all the longtubes are.

In short, buy the macs, you can't go wrong with them. Just make sure you get the offroad pipe with em.
