I know that lately there has been a lot of talk about the HID lights and the projector housings for the LT1's. Now i may be way way off base here, but the LT1 headlights are 4x6 housings correct? Please, correct me if i'm wrong. But the reason that the HID bulbs don't look good in these cars is due to the fact that they're not in a projector housing right?

I dont think they'll fit. I wonder how hard it would be to cut open a light and JB weld/Epoxy ect part of a projector in a LT1 headlight.

That is the correct housing for a 93-97 T/A or firebird. You are correct in thinking that housing will give a much better dispersion pattern. The projector housing makes for a much more focused beam.

Since my 97 has sealed beam housings, i just ripped out the stock bulb and siliconed in my 6000k HID's... Im actually glad that i dont have projectors, because i light up the entire road without them, haha... HID's are on the pricy side, but damn they look good

Have some still in the box for the T/A. They will fit with no issues other than just about taking off the entire front clip

It's great isn't it? Where did you mount your the little boxes? I snuck mine under the radiator support and bolted them down with self tapping screws and a long extension. For the fog lights I mounted them on the frame.

riodealz28 the picture I posted of my car is almost that setup. Mine are 4300K Phillips HIDs instead of 6000K. The picture did not capture any of the color but it blue/purple at night.

So then the conclusion is that the link i originally posted, those housings WILL work with my 83-97 Trans Am? I can just simply remove my existing lights and bolt these in place? I want to put the HID bulbs in, but not in anything other than a projector. I've seen what HID lights do in a normal housing...so it won't go in anything other than a projector.

So yes? These are the right sized housings, they'll fit?

You bought those exact ones? Why do you have to take the whole clip off? I've replaced my headlights pleanty of times and neverhad to worry about removing the clip??

NotACopZ28, no I used an actual Phillips HID conversion kit in 4300K. The best kit fitting is 9006. You can get them pretty much anywhere. I personally like www.xenonking.com because their prices are pretty good.

SLPHawk300, I'm not sure about the Trans Am's. I'm sure it's very similar though.

I just installed my HID's last week in my 93. They are very easy and I just bought the kit of ebay. The Pic. on the top are SilverStars and last 2 at the bottom are HID's 5300k.

yeah, but you're just running HID bulbs in the standard housings right? You can see the glare that you get on the Sharks logo.

I'm in the process of having some custom housings for Bosch E46 projectors in my T/A. I was trying to do it myself but f'ck that, I didn't/don't have the time to fabricate crap (school, 2 jobs). Sent the project to a friend who works at a metal fab shop, he's taking forever. So I gave the other projector to my uncle who is a master craftsman and he already has one housing done, he should have the other one done here in a week or so, then all I have to do is drive two hours, down to his place do some yardwork for him and I got myself some projectors in my LT1. I will have to cut some metal where the old headlights used to rest back into because the widest part of the projector is 4inches and it needs to slide back a little bit because it is almost 5 inches long. My uncle is also going to make me some nice templates and instructions so if I want to do this myself for someone I can. I'm most likely going to go with 6000k and change my 6000k fogs to 3000k! Here is what I originally planned up.
