LS6 intake install (no EGR) knocking on start??
Well the subject pretty much sums it up. I put it in this weekend, of course removed the EGR and when I finally got it back together and fired it up for the first time it made a knocking sound. It went away after a few seconds. Is this normal?? Is it just the computer relearning and retuning stuff?? Or is it the knock sensors picking up a problem and adjusting the engine to get rid of the knocking, thereby causing me to lose HP???? Please help on this. Thanks

That,s kind of stange... Is the egr blocked off? does it leak? Did it sound like a lower end knock? Has it knocked on start-up again?

Re: LS6 intake install (no EGR) knocking on start??
The EGR is blocked off and it sounded like a knock from the drivers side rear of the engine. I could not quite tell if it was high or low. Also it has not done it again. I was wondering is that what this KR is people talk about?? The engine compensating for a bad situation by robbing horsepower and retarding things in order to make the engine run ok???? Please any and all help is welcome. <img border="0" alt="[bang head]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_banghead.gif" />

5LiterBeater: Does your car experience any KR at cruising speeds? Mine sure did when I changed to a non EGR LS6 intake. Turns out there are some pretty different timing maps for EGR and non EGR cars.
Thanks,

Re: LS6 intake install (no EGR) knocking on start??
I wish I could say. I don't have any kind of diagnostic system here at the house. I am going to have to wait until I get it to the speed shop for some other work before I can say about the KR. As far as stuff falling in.. NO chance in hell of that happening. I am very attentive. And I had all the bolts that I started with when I finished. I wonder if the mapping for mine may be radically different and that could have been it. What if I do have KR????? 1 how do I fix it and 2 what does it do if unfixed for a few days??
