Default t56 Help

ok i did something real stupid. I just bought a 99 SS with 85000 miles for nine grand, never wrecked very clean car. Upon getting i was getting on the interstate and needed to merge over and kicked it in second gear and quickly switched into third, but i missed third and went into first. I snapped my driveshaft in half. The car will go in every gear and the rear end is fine. The only problem i see other then getting the driveshaft replaced is that the car while running, will go into all six gears while running without pushing the clutch in. Can anyone tell me if this is ok since the driveshaft is broken, or what i might be looking to fix?

If there is no load on it because the driveshaft isnt there it will shift though the gears fine because the syncros can work without the clutch if there is no load.

Hard to say how much carnage, might be more.
I'd say taking it apart might tell you more, like removing the driveshaft.
You might have twisted the mainshaft of the trans have seen that B-4.

appreciate it, the car is going into the shop tommorrow, luckily i have a buddy who has a drive shaft that will sell it to me for 75 dollars, the rear end is leaking, but i believe it is due to the fact the spline of the driveshaft has loosened from the rear end allowing fluid to leak. Thanks for the help

Check out the rear housing for damage. You may want to be sure the output shaft is still straight.
