Default Houston Inspection?

I will be moving to Houston after high school, hopefully to go to SAM. I just browsed this section looking for any clues, but I haven't found any.

My car has non emissions headers, ORY, and a Borla cat back. It also has a few other things not mentioned that might mess with any sort of inspection. In IL, at least where I live, there is no inspection/smog or anything, so that's no worry to me. My question to you guys is, is there any inspection or smog down in Houston?

Thanks in advance
Spuds

could i get around it being that my car is actually under my parents name? Keep IL plates on it and such? Front plate state? Is it just a smog test or a full inspection? I would be less worried about a smog, just more reasons to get a set of LT's and catted Y.

as a student, you can keep IL plates and follow IL laws. as long as the car stays current with the registration in IL and you have a IL driver's license. however, you can still get a ticket fo no cats here in texas seeing as how that is a federal(all 50 states) law. thats separate from inspection. and with out of state plates and a SAM student sticker on your car, some cop may just take the gamble and pull you over to check over your stuff. not trying to scare you. as long as you drive smart and mature, and pay attention to your surroundings, you'll be cool.
