Default tires and performance

right now my car has 235 55 16 tires on it,I thought z28s were supposed to come with 245 50s?? would that difference in tire throw my speedo and gear ratio off??

The overall diameter (outer diameter of the tire - not the size of the wheel) is what effects the speedo readings. Significantly changing that will make you need a speedometer calibration. For the difference between 50 and 55, I probably wouldn't worry about it.

245/50/16's were an option on Z's not standard equipment. Base tires were the 235/55/16's. You'll be fine switching to 245/50's though. You can check your door sticker if it's still there to see what originally came on your car. Someone may have put the smaller tires on it.
