Ok, I have a friend who recently did me a favor so I'd like to repay him. He has a 98 camaro z28. I wanna get him some 3.73's but need some info on who makes the best gear. Who do you guys like. For the vehicle I drive, we tend to stay away from motive because they've been known to whine a lot.
He has an automatic (I think it's a 6 speed...not sure, could be 5) Also, I know if I were to replace my gears I'd need a new bearing kit. What else would he need? One more, I notice you guys talking a lot about rear ends. His is stock so...yea.
Sorry if this sounds disjointed. I just worked a 13 hour shift. So 98 camaro z28 auto, best gears. Thanks for the help fellas.

Lots of companies make good gears, there is no 'best' in my opinion. I can't think of one that I wouldn't recommend. Motive, Richmond, Yukon, Moser, etc I have used them all without issue.
As far as what you need for a swap

I like my motive 4.10s. Havnt had an issue withthem yet, and theyre fairly quiet too... A lot of poeple are happy with them.

They are all going to be about the same, seriously. I have never broken a ring and pinion in a 10 bolt, just the carrier (torsen).

Best is suggestive.....
USGear or Precision (same machines make them both) have given my efforts the best of luck. They all run quiet and they out lived every other gear I have used..... and I have used every single gearset ever made for the 7.5" and the 9bolt (both which are OE F-body differentials).
To help with longevity, deburr the gear set..... paying specific attention to the root of the pinion gear teeth and run a straight 140wt gear oil.

if its for a 10bolt, and you want it quiet, get a GM gear.
if its for a modded drag car, hes better off not putting steeper gears in it, since the larger the gear is numericly, the weaker the gears themselves are... alot more people distroy 3.73s and 4.10s then 3.42s and 2.73s..... just save up for a stronger rear.
if you want to put aftermarket gears in there anyway, it really doesnt matter what brand, they're all about the same for the 7.5" 10bolt.
