Default T56 Tranny Cooler??

Does anyone make one with a electric fluid pump and heat exchanger for the T56 or any other manual trannys? I know they use something like that in road course and endurance racing. I may be shipping my car to me here in Germany and I want the tranny be able to handle high cruising speeds for long durations. I know a guy with a 2005 Mustang GT that routinely cruises over 140mph weekly and the tranny is starting to make noise. I would also be interested in a rearend oil cooler.

you can call them and see if you can get just whats needed for the trans part, not the rear since you dont have a vette.

btw gl with your goals of 800+ rwhp on 93 octane, youd be the first to do it in the world...either that or you will do it for one dyno run and your motor will blow into 50000 pieces.

no no no... you can make your own T56 cooler for MUCH much cheaper.. Hell even GMpartsdirect sells a T56 cooler for $899. you need fluid pump rated to carry up to 300*F fluid and for oil... i'll search for the company name.. but i did find one for 230$. A plate type cooler will cost you $65 from B&M, braided hose and fittings, plan another 80$.. and you have your cooler

of course you can make it for cheaper, that came with a billet rearend girdle for the getrag setup for the vette, im sure you can get just the fittings for diddely. if my memory serves me correctly, its just a 1/4-20 NPT threaded hole, both on the fill and drain, so just get to of those with AN fittings, run em to a cooler, get an inline pump, done.

Good thread. I was looking into this as well.

BTW. There are many cars out there making in excess of 1000 rwhp on 93 octane.

There are other that have done it. Now I am going to use a water-to-air intercooler and water/alky injection. I am going to try not using ice water in the tank first and just use the W/A injection.

no seriously, pump gas was not meant to make 1000 hp on small v8's you guys, do more research, i have a twin turbo vette and its SAFELY tuned at 640 at the wheels. you really dont want to surpass 650 ish with 93. you guys..its meant to be put in freakin factory cars like the EVO and DODGE NEON TURBO! you really wanna put 93 in a car you have over 25g INVESTED into? yeah ok. gl with that. i hope you use some absorbant metal so you can use it to soak up your tears when it breaks.

Its quite silly to say more then 650whp on pump gas is dangerous. Theres many people who safely run far more then that on pump gas, and if its tuned properly and your not getting knock then theres nothing dangerous about it.

I think this is somewhat relevant since he brought it up.

Camaro_Zach, I suggest that you need to do some research yourself. I have been over 650 rwhp on 93 more times than I can count with no failures and have personally seen as much as 1200 rwhp on a big inch small block thumper setup on 93 octane. To say that it was meant for neon's and evo's is just plain dumb.

The key is the motor has to be designed as an overall package with 93 in mind. Ever hear of the pump gas drags. They're not all big blocks.

I do agree that sticking 93 in a motor not made for it and cranking up the boost will get you a pile of broken parts though.

BTW. Thank you all for the tranny cooler help.

My 95 lt1 with a 383, stock rear with a girdle and german gear oil, Plus my t56 with german tranny oil did fine. Just make sure you change your oil more often. I use german castor oil 10w 40. I did have a oil cooler and spal fans that barley fit. Scoop style raidiator dam and 160 t-stat. Car made 487 hp 440tq. Drove from nurnberg to hammelburge doing 175+ for miles on miles temps stay around 180, rpm in 5th 6,500 red line set at 7,200. I think you wont need a cooler maby a oil cooler and power steering.

Would that pump be adequate for cooling a stock manual 6-speed '01 Rear Diff with a girdle?
