Default Help, car wont start!

Yesterday, I washed the car, motor too. Car was cool, and I covered allmost everything that would need covered when I washed the motor, this was at like 4:00 PM.
Car ran fine after that, started fine, drove fine, no problems at all. Went and saw a movie (X-3, was pretty good actually) stoped for gas on the way back, when I started the car up it instantly died after a second or two of idle. Restarted it, ran great. This morning, I get in the car, start it, does the same thing, however, now it simply will not start. Just continues to turn over, and over and over.

I press the valve stem on the fuel rail when the key is on, and nothing happends, no fuel spouts out.

Is my fuel pump wasted? Could it be a sensor when I washed it? Car ran fine for hours after I cleaned it, it does not make sense...

Any help is greatfully accepted.

Yes my friend that is the same thing my car did and that was the problem. Try the trap door. Worked great for me.

No fuel at the rail, your pump is toast (you may get extremely lucky and it's a clogged up filter but don't bet on it)
Time to drop the axle and tank and R&R the pump

You can check the pump fuse and relay for the heck of it since you just washed the engine compartment, or get a hold of a code reader and read the pcm to see if anything is stored. How low was it when you put gas in?

It was not too low, I have let it get near empty a few times, The car would backfire at startup a few times this past week, maybe that had somthing to do with it. When the key is on, and I check the rails, there is ZERO fuel, not even a drop. I am not looking forward to changing this. The car did seem "underpowered" lately, allmost mono-tone.

Pulled the Relay and inspected it, there is a VERY small brown mark on the corner, gonna replace it and the filter. I would rather try the small things first before tackling the fuel pump, my fingers are crossed.

Well, problem solved. Next time I wash the motor, I'll be sure to bag it all up. Lesson learned. Thanks everyone!

So, what, the relay got wet but didn't fry till later? Or what?

Don't just say 'problem solved', be more specific, for future readers.

Yeah, I guess the relay got wet, but didnt fry till later on down the road. Every thing looked fine, there was a brown spot (the size of a cookie crumb) on the corner. Another thing, the fuel filter was terrible, I bought the car with 68K and it now has 80K on the odo. Dont know how many miles had been put on it, but it was pretty bad. Runs great now. For ppl that want to wash the motor, cover the fuse boxes pretty good, I thought I had mine covered. Glad it wasnt the PCM or somthing of the like.

Thanks for getting my attention on this. I was just about to do an underhood detail on the SS. I may just use wet rags instead.

Glad it was something simple. I've never used anything to clean under the hood besides CD2 Engine Detailer - no rinsing, just wipe it off. Maybe that relay was arcing a little before finally blowing completely.
