Default descreened maf

what all benefits are there in taking the screen out of you maf?what kind of gains do you get?and finally what all is entailed in doing this?

Majority of people here will say it's not worth it. I cant risk it so I left mine alone. i trully believe there are benifits to upgrading the maf if the tuner is compotent but I have yet to prove it.

Mine was off when i bought it 2 1/2 years ago and i have never had any problems

Its one more thing between your filter and your maf. Ive had my FIPKA slip off before and had a bug chilin on the MAF screen. If the Screen wasnt there my MAF would be toast

I couldn't get the descreened MAF to work for me.

ive seen LT1's put anywhere from 5 to 8 to the wheels after a decreened MAF, there are benefits. keep your air filter tight and you wont have to worry about it

i have a moroso cai with a kn filter so i dont think i will hafta worry about gettin' anything in there. so what i just cut it out and reinstall nothing else?

The MAF is calibrated with the screen in place so removing it may allow more air to flow past but the computer won't be reading that extra air properly. So it would take some custom tuning to work with it. The screen supposedly helps straighten the airflow as well so removing it may result in a loss of power. You could try it and see what happens, but don't damage it or you're getting yourself another MAF.
