Default 347/382 rotating assemblies and '98 LS1 bore ?

1) Who has the best prices on forged 347 and fored 382 rotating assemblies?

2) Also, what is the max bore that a '98 LS1 block can safely be taken to?

Thanks!

I thought it was .005" to a 3.903" bore and the later models .010" to a 3.908" bore?

Every where that I have read has said .004 clean up hone (and .010 for the newer blocks), although I and a few others did hone out for 3.905 pistons (against all recommendations). I haven't gotten my project finished yet,but for the others that I have kept in touch with, they haven't had any problems. One thing that we did all agree on was NOT to add any type of power adder when going out this much. I have a 97 Vette Block.

What exactly are you trying to show me? I already did some searching and didn't find anything. A link to a specific thread would help!!

From this webpage:

The engine (LS1) uses centrifugally-cast, gray-iron liners. The liners to be quite thin, but very strong due to centrifugal force increasing the density of the iron during casting. The sleeves are, then, cast into the aluminum block at the foundry. When asked in June of ’96 about these sleeves' tolerance of overbore during rebuilds, Juriga said that a thickness figure was unavailable and that, to date, GMPT had not addressed the service overbore issue. In a second interview, in March of 1997, John Juriga told me that the LS1 engines for MY97 and 98 will tolerate only about a .005-in. overbore which really amounts to just a clean-up hone. In 1999, the sleeves will be revised such that service overbore of .015-.020 is possible without compromising durability.

I have the GM service manual for 98 F-body max piston to bore service limit is .00212

.00212 on each side so .00212 X 2= .00424 stock bore=3.897-3.898 so at the most the max bore would be 3.898 + .00424= 3.902 max bore size

I'd be concerned about the end gap on the rings if went any bigger than that if using a hyperuetetic piston

Yeah, I was going to say taht I have read in many places where it is .004 for the 97-98 blocks. That article that Eric posted a link to was an early (Pre LS1) article , so a few of the numbers are off. even teh later blocks can only be bored .010 not the .15-20 that they mention.

With that said, and against all recommendation you can go a little more as I and a few others have, but I would recommend against any use of of a power adder (Turbo, supercharger, N20).
