Minimal gains with Mac headers and MAFT
Ok well let me first start by saying I'm doing all the dynoing on a Mustang Dyno. When I took the car there the first time the numbers were as follows: w/ airlid and catback 305 HP and 314 TQ. I installed the Mac headers and ORY along with MAFT, plugs, wires, and o2 sims. I went to the dyno again today and put down 312 HP and 320 TQ. Now I asked the guy there the difference with the Mustang dynos vs. the Dynojet dynos and he said that his would give about 10% lower numbers since there is resistance applied to the drums that the wheels turn.
Well figuring in the percentage of loss it came out to be base of 335 HP and 345 TQ. With the headers and all it would come out to be 343 HP and 352 TQ.
I have never been on a Dynojet so I don’t really know what the numbers would be if I did get on one. But to me on getting 10 hp and 7 tq for headers doesn’t sound right to me. Yes I did pull multiple pulls on the dyno adjusting the MAFT. It made more power when set to 6% rich at WOT and no adjustment to the base. Any ideas of why the low numbers for headers?

Re: Minimal gains with Mac headers and MAFT
I installed a set of MACs on a friend's 99Z. His car actually ran slower until I noticed the Y-Pipe was hitting the frame, producing false knock. A little notching brought the gains back. His car was lowered, maybe this ahd something to do with it?

Re: Minimal gains with Mac headers and MAFT
It was hitting when I first installed them but removed the pipe and flattened a little on top so it would not hit anymore.
Also there was a GM Goodwrench tech that happened to show up and hooked up the GM scan tool. He said all my ltrims looked ok and there were no misfires on any cylinder, and no knock retard. So still not sure why so small of gains????

Re: Minimal gains with Mac headers and MAFT
Has anyone one here dynoed on a Mustang dyno and a Dynojet dyno to with the same setup? Did you see if they are about 10% lower? Thats what the guy was telling me and I really have no way of knowing. Any help would be appreciated on this subject.
