Default Am I being held back severely or just alittle?

I have had my HPE 408 installed for a little while now(w/ pacesetter LT's, exhaust, highflow airlid, ported TB.) . I know i am being held back by having stock heads(cant affrod new ones yet) but im also worried if i am being severely held back by running the stock intake manifold and stock MAF. is it imperative that i upgrade ASAP? or will i be ok waiting til end of summer when i have the funds available.

if you know of any good deals on MAF and Intake Manifold..let me know

What stock heads and manifold are you talking about? LS1, LS6?

if you have the ls1 intake instead of the ls6 and stock heads as well you are very restricted.what cam are you running ? you will be amazed when you put a set of good heads and a 90/90 on there !

90/90 meaning 90mm intake manifold and 90mm throttle body

That LS1 intake is horrible. Upgrade for sure. LS6 or FAST. I am only running a 78 mm FAST w/78mm ported TB, and check out the #'s I am putting down. Your 408 is exactly where I'll be heading in a couple years, but I'll be supercharging mine. Good luck, hope everything works out. AFR heads if you can afford them.

Look for around 50-60 rwhp once you put a set of good heads on there and a FAST 90/90 setup.

i do have a ported TB already i forgot to mention that. but what about the MAF should i replace that too? and i will get a 90 mm intake manifold(what else will i need to replace?) heads will come later when i have the funds available. what kind of increases in rwhp will i get from just the manifold and maf upgrade?

Stock MAF is fine. A 90/90 would give you around 20-30 rwhp by my guess.

Patriot Stage 3 LS6 "style" heads are around $1475
and LS6 intake can be found for $200 if you shop around (used)
MAF not needed at this stage.

my car is a 1998. so remove the MAF althogether after those upgrades? is it worth it to pay the extra buck to get a FAST 90mm intake instead of ls6?

if you want optimal performance, then yes, get the 90/90 setup, if not, then the ls6 will be fine. regardless, you need an intake. Yes you will have to get a new lid if you go with the 85mm maf. You can sell yours to offset the cost of the new one. With that cam and motor the heads are also something you need to invest in. A 225cc would be best, but not a must. It all depends on what you got to spend. If your happy with it as it, then stick with it.

what if i remove the MAF which someone mentioned above. funny u bring that up. It was not too long ago that Speed Density (no maf) was the way to go. A few tuners in the pcm section that have gone back to the maf and didnt notice a difference, so I suggest staying with it for now.
then can i use the airlid i have? and right now i have ported TB if thats 78mm? If you want to keep the airlid you have, then keep the maf, go with a ls6 intake and keep your current TB. Use the change/difference to put towards a set of heads.. that would be my suggestion.
do i need to get 90mm to fit the 90mm intake manifold? yes

You said budget way.
And I meant going with a different MAF is not necessary, keep the one you have.
You can regain a good 50rwhp for under 2K $$

ok sounds good so if i keep the maf and ported TB go with ls6 intake and a set of heads im lookin at a good 50 rwhp gain. and if i did the 85mm lid and maf along with 90/90mm im lookin at what 65-75 rwhp gain? plus another 1000$
