Default Best way to get rid of exhaust resonance.

Need some advice on a cheap way to get rid of the annoying exhaust resonance during cruising, and occasional cold engine deceleration backfire. I have FLP headers with CATs and Random Tech cat back.

Would adding a Dynomax bullet mufler between the Y-pipe and the axle do the trick without robbing too much horsepower?

There are probably many answers to this - resonator in the I pipe, resonator tips, etc. Each one will have a different affect on the sound. Unless you find someone with FLPs and random tech who has already done it, you're probably going to have to expeiment.

Seconding the previous post. It's about 95% gone now with the Dynomax bullet in the I-pipe.

Thanks for the information.

Couple more questions: How much bigger in diamer is the bullet mufler? Does it fit OK along the driveshaft in the transmission tunnel? Any loss of horsepower?

I'm not sure about the bullet fitting there. It's a little wider than a resonator. Mine is in my I-pipe in front of my R/R tire. Yeah, you may drop a couple horses (1-5) but it should be a small loss.

A bullet is 4in in diameter. I have an 18" one wleded in my I-pipe. The bullet flows almost as well as regular 3" pipe because that's pretty much all it is. It's a 3" pipe with about 1000 little holes in it, you can see straight thru it. I don't think it robs more than a hp or 2 if any. It does get rid of 95% of the rasp though.
