Angry Oh %$#@, someone tell me what I did wrong.

Just finished putting in my fuddle 3600TC, I started the car up, let it run for 30 seconds, shut it down, checked for leaks.

I heard some sort of hissing noise that sounded like it was comeing from the tranny dipstick, so I took it out. It was covered up to about the halfway mark with tranny fluid (wait, this gets better).

Then tranny fluid starts gushing out of the top of the dipstick tube like something out of a horror movie. Probibly about 1/4 quart of the ****, all over my engine.

Someone please tell me how I fucked up this badly and what I can do to fix it.

-John

Oh yeah... I did not drain the tranny, and put 1 quart in the new TC... so I cant see how I overfilled it.

You may have over filled it depending on how much was in your old converter. To get an accurate reading you need to have the tranny at least warm. You won't hurt it letting it idle up to temp. Just don't drive it until you know the level is correct. Let it idle for a few minutes and then check the level warm.

You can't check your tranny fluid accuratly unless the car is running

What about the vent line on the top of the transmission. Are you sure it is not kinked or pinched?

Would that do it?.. Sh*t, I may have pinched it in the tourq arm bracket.

As soon as I work off this hangover I'll go check

i did something similar- installed the one way valve the wrong way (would let air into the trans but not out).

got HOT fluid spit out of the dipstick tube in my ******* face! . once i thought of the problem i i got right under there and ripped the goddam valve out of the vent hose- never had a problem again!
