Sam Houston also know as "The Raven" was born in Virginia, raised in Tennessee. He was govenor of Tennessee also, moved to Texas around 1834-1835. He led the Texas army over Santa Anna 4-21-1836 in the Battle of San Jacinto. He was the first President of Texas, he was a heavy drinker. Settled in Huntsville, Texas because the hills there ( what hills in huntsville?) reminded him of the ones nearhis boyhood home in Tennessee. He is buried in Huntsville @ the Oakwood Cemetary.

I hope I have beaten you guys down with Sam Houston story time
I have a great great maybe one more great grandfather that was a big player in the whole Texas independent movement Empresario Green B DeWitt his wife Sarah made the "Come and Take It" flag. NEAT-O HUH !!!
