Default Paint or Engine First?

What would you guys do first, paint or engine. I am looking to drop a new engine and put a new paint job on the car at the same time. Just don't know which one I should go after first. Not looking to change the base color, just add some detail. Thanks.

need info on the new engine. If it's a built up stroker or something of that sort, then engine definitely first. If it's just a rebuilt stocker, then paint.

Edit: my reading comprehension skills need work. I though you said engine OR paint... engine first, then paint, as stated below.

Engine. I would hate to scratch a new paint job while working on the car.
