Winter driving really screws up anything underneath our cars. The amount of sand & salt used on the roads in the East this winter has been killer! WJ.

Yeah no kidding WJ!! This has been the first and last winter that my Camaro is going to see. I can't stnad all the salt and crap all over my car. I'm getting a pickup truck over summer and the Camaro isn't going to rain or snow ever again.

LOL That looks brand new comapred to mine. Mine are 15X times worse than what yours look like. You should feel happy with that. I have never scraped my headers and my coating was gone in 4 months on my flp's. I purchased mine in decmeber of 2000 and they have looked like *** since march of 2001. I would send mine in to get recoated but dont have time to be without my car for a few weeks.
Those look nice in all seriousness compared to mine. Good luck.

We have switched coaters because a few of our customers have had coating issues. The previous coater is standing behind his warranty and will recoat them for free with a revised coating process. We have since then changed coaters. All of our headers are now coated by AirBorn Coatings (www.airborn.cc) and we haven't had any problems.

Default Alittle concerned about FLP headers...

I brought my '02 Z28 to the shop (Cartek in NJ) today to have some suspension and chassis work done, and there was a T/A on the lift with FLP longtubes on it. I noticed that on the primary pipes where they bend right before the collector there was what looked like rust forming on them. Anybody else experience rusting from their FLP's?? Just wondering because I really don't want to shell out alot of cash for headers that are going to rust. Thanx guys!

No winter driving at all. they have a 3 year warranty on the coating I think. I sent them back to the old company and they recoated them for free. To bad it cost me $50.00 shipping. I sold the headers to a friend when I got them back. They looked like new. If they mess up again I will be pretty upset. IMO if FLP would use stainless tubing they wouldn't have these problems. If SLP can do it I don't see why FLP can't.

My FLP's were pretty rusted, and the car was rarely driven in inclement weather. I took them over to the company who re-coats them, they did with no problem. I got them back it did look like they did a better job this time, heavier with the coating. Several months later, I see rust starting again-I give up, I'll probably coat them myself with a high temp exhaust coating. I'm pretty happy with thier function though.

Our shop's truck has stainless steel headers on it and the headers have been welded 3 times because they have cracked. I have seen on many ocassions where even a coated 409 stainless steel header rusts.

I am not trying to bash FLP at all. I am just trying to understand how FLP seems to be the only headers with a rusting problem. I wonder if they make to sharp of a bend when they go to the collectors. Maybe causing to much heat in that one area. I know LS1 car run pretty rich when cold. Maybe on cold days a lot of unburnt fuel is lighting off in the bends causing premature rusting?
