Default NEW Magnaflow catback just released... check it out.....

http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/c...ifs/camaro.htm

Something different...

Not a crossflow muffler, a single inlet & straight thru to 2 outlets...

Don't know about that sharp bend to the back of the muffler...

Dave

Looks more refined. The passenger side outlet looks restrictive not that it would matter much. I wonder how it sounds compared to the crossflow catbacks.

The 15620 version pictured is for the LT1. The photo had the 98-02 camaro pictued right beside the LT1 exhaust.

I wonder how different this muffler flows and sounds compared to their traditional x-over version. I would imagine that it might sound similar to the ol' SLP 2OTL... but with dual exhaust pipes exiting their intended locations.

Im sure theyre gonna make one for the ls1. They can use the same Ipipe off the old design and switch the tail pipes.

They have the LS1 listed there - the picture is just the LT1. It looks great - I'm curious to hear it.

I'm sure it flows way better than the crossflow systems. And I wouldn't worry about the bend at that point in the system. Have you seen the bends in the GMMG system, and it is one of the best out there - just too much $$$ for my wallet.

Anyone seen a price for the new Magnaflow? Is it Stainless? It looks like it.

We carry the Magnaflow exhaust systems and it is by far the best flowing best sounding system on the market. Not to mention it looks awesome.

Mickey,

Are you talking about the 'old' Magnaflow system, or the one that is now pictured on the new updated Magnaflow website ??? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />

Does it sound as good as the Flowmaster American Thunder? I love the sound of the FMAT on a bolt on LS1 with stock cats, but I want the performance of a straight true muffler....

I have bad news! I contacted Magnaflow today because I really like the system shown in the picture. It is the V-6 system - the V-8 systems have the traditional crossflow muffler.

You could use the V-6 one and adapt it to the V-8, but it has 2-1/2 inch inlet and outlets. If you wanted to choke the 3 inch V-8 pipe down, you could, but I think it would hurt flow on the inlet pipe.

I expressed to them that their engineers should consider making and dynoing a similar V-8 cat-back with a 3 inch inlet pipe. They may consider it.

If any more of you are interested in a system like that, call them or write them and let them know!

If they don't make it, I may make my own. Flowmaster makes the exact same muffler in a 40 series, 2 chamber, with a 3 inch inlet and 2-1/2 inch outlets (It will flow way better than Flowmasters crossflow). You could use your factory pipe back to the muffler and have the tail pipes mandrel bent by a muffler shop to make them like the Magnaflow picture, or buy parts from Summit and make it up.

I tried to buy just the tail pipes, but Magnaflow won't sell them that way. That would have been the best - Magnaflow tail pipes, Flowmaster muffler, stock pipe over the axle. And cheap too - oh well!
