Default 01 temp gauge conversion

Is there any way to change the dummy temp gauge on the 01 f bodies to the functioning ones from the 98's? Is it as simple as installing one from a 98?

The temp sensor on a '98 is a 3-prong, '99+ is a 2-prong. You'd need to do custom wiring I'd guess......

If you want an accurate temp gauge, you'll need to use an aftermarket one (autometer or other brand) AFAIK there is no way to make the 99+ one function like the 98

HAH or the engineers could have had a IP cluster that polled the memory value stored in the PCM more than 1 time a minute.

The problem is it doesn't display the actual temperature regardless of how often it checks.
