is this a truck maf? it is def bigger than the stock one....

the stock maf on the trans ams and camaros is 75 mm the slp is from the 6.0 ltr truck and its 85 mm they recalibrate it and make an adaptor to fit on the ls1

Is getting an 85mm MAF sensor with the smooth high-flow bellows from SLP worth it? I'm in the process of getting an LS6 intake and thought they might be worth looking into as well to go along with it. Any feedback would be welcomed!

mw02 I have an SLP 85mm, the other day I noticed the SLP logo started to come of and underneath it it had the DELPHI logo <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="gr_images/icons/tongue.gif" /> just like budchevy8 said it's a truck maf recalibrated by SLP <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

I had the 85mm SLP MAF and hated it. I lost a full 0.10 (multiple times tested) in the 1/4 mile (intake and exhaust only other mods). I think it may have caused me to run lean. I know one of the mags tested it and it gained Peak HP and TQ, but lost more HP and TQ down low.

You can tell it's the SLP one by the fact that there is a rubber hose adapter going from the airlid to the maf (stock slides inside airlid).

yeah they seem to lose more low end power but they have used tuners like hypertech and preditor to recal. the comp. and got more than expected low end power. i have heard a lot of people doing filter/lid/bellow/MAF/TB/LS6 and love the setup, well along with some tuning, and tahts what i plan on doing as well. and full throttle you can really tell a difference <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[burn out]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_burnout.gif" />

Delphi is a manufacturer that GM uses. A lot of sensors and switches under the hood of GM vehicles are made for GM by them.
But, as far as the MAF, I recently read a test somewhere as well on an SLP MAF (probably GMHTP) and
noticed a slight low end loss of hp/tq, but with a slight gain in both mid and high range. I'm personally going to give it a go. I'm constantly spinning on light acceleration as it is. Maybe a little low end loss isn't a bad thing for me. But, as mentioned above, the combo of lid/cai/LS6 intake/MAF/smooth bellows is suppose to be a good combo. I guess I'll find out.

I just put in a Graneteli 85mm MAF - LS1 Motorsports steered me away from the SLP and to the Graneteli. They are the same price.

I have the mods below and I have no problem with detonation or running too lean. I could feel a difference - mostly up high, but also in the midrange.

I got the Direct-flo bellows from them also, and I recommend it over the SLP bellows. I had to trim a little off of the big end, but it was easy to put in and looks great - I'm not sure how much it helped, but it couldn't have hurt when you compare it to the stocker acordian! Also, the Direct-flo is very flexible, so no worry about a cracked lid like some of the other bellows mods.

LS1 Motorsports has great customer service and they haven't steered me wrong so far - I recommend them.

Now to get my Spin-tech cat-back on and hit the track for some new times!

I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR SOMETHING POSITIVE ABOUT THE SLP MAF,SEEMS THAT NO ONE WANTS TO GIVE A STRAIGHT ANSWER ABOUT ANY MAF BUT THEY ALL RUN EM.IGOT A CAM AND TUNING WITH A STCK DESCREENED MAF . I THINK I COULD BENEFIT FROM MORE AIR. I JUST WANT TO BOLT IT ON WITH NO TUNING. I PUT A STOCK PORTED MAF ON MY CAR AND LOSE POWER. I haven't had any problems with my slp 85. I felt a marginal seat of the pants increase in the midrange. It is the only maf other than the stocker that you can tune with, like for a heads/cam car. That is my take on it.

I have a descreened SLP's 85mm maf on my 2001 Firehawk and my husband has GMAF on his 2001 WS6. Both of them work great. The GMAF came with no screen in it. Both of them work great ande gained about the same amount of power from both, about .15 faster at the track.

I'm going to try the SLP one(since it's tunable) and a ported Throttle Body from Katech. I plan to have the SS retuned in the spring. I'll report the results.

FYI, we will be releasing an induction lid to fit the 85mm MAF sensor in the next 2-3 weeks. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> It will slip over the MAF just like the current lids do for the stock 75mm MAF.

I have the SLP mass air and it made a big difference in the mid and high range rpm's but it feels like I lost some lowend torque. Tomorrow I'm getting the car dynoed so I will know how it's doing as far as hp numbers and I will know if my A/F ratio is fine.

Ok here is some tuning info i got from my SLP 85mm

ported MAF ends put LTRIMS at +18 to +20
stock MAF ends put LTRIMS at -6 to -4 and 02's read .88 at WOT
SLP 85MM put LTRIMS at +4 to +6 and 02's read .92 at wot because my LTRIMS were slightly lean before WOT so it dumped fuel on top end.

I cant really feel a difference between the stock and SLP unit. If anything it feels like the SLP unit pulls harder up top, but at the max i would expect 7-10hp but i doubt anyone could/can feel that. But Im pretty sure it didnt slow me down. Still cant hook under 40mph <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
