Longtubes, high flow cats, and magnaflow exhaust... (A more free flowing exhaust helps increase gas mileage)... a/c delete, underdrive pullies, electric waterpump... (Minimizing accessories reduces drag and frees up hp)... 160 degree thermostat, manual fan switch or computer programing for fans to turn on at a lower temp...(A cooler running engine performs much better... new wires, plugs ngk tr-55 gapped to .050, and msd opti (A good ignition system will provide more than enough spark to keep the engine running strong and burn ALL the fuel that is injected so you arent wasting gas running rich)...

ONefast97z Thx for the extensive post Definantly I think my first thing on the list should be ignition and new spark plugs! But its a MAJOR pain to change the ones on the LT1s. Anyone have any advise as how to change the plugs easily?

Is this a good thing to use to help out with a bit of HP and gas mileage?

That won't increase either but it will make you feel better about spinning the motor over 6000. And spark plugs are pretty much just a bitch. One of those things that sucks.

Any new Ignition System parts are going to be good, but when it comes down to it, you are going to sacrafice gas mileage for power. I say this, cause when you get the nice roasty exhaust, you are going to have your foot in it to hear it.. I say this from experience..

What's funny is alot of people in another thread said I hotter engine runs better.
The best way to improve your gas milage (if everything is running good as stock) is your driving habbits. I dont see a way of getting much better gas milage than what it came with stock or the engineers would have done it for a higher rating.

I have been dissapointed when ive put on exhaust and expected better mileage but didnt get it Took me a while to realize that its too easy to lose track of those "lower speeds" when your car sounds kickass going fast!

The stock ignition on most cars these days are very very good. All youll end up doing is killing plugs and opti's faster if you buy these fancy ignion boxes etc.
