head gaskets
I am in the market to buy some head gaskets.
I will be doing a head swap (ETP 225 4.000 bore)...
My question is what size gakets shoudl I get?
Should I get the 4.000 Cometic gaskets? Or should I get something larger to make sure there is no "overhang"?

Depends on the gasket really. I usually run titan ICS gaskets anymore and they require .020" min backspacing. Never had luck with cometics in various applications. But they sure do have a broad selection. When they seal, they work.... when they seal.
Measure the combustion chamber. Usually it's wider than the bore. A set of AFR225s I had were 4.080 at their widest chamber point. So that reguired a 4.155 titan to be ok.
No matter what gasket you run it's a good idea to keep the "fire ring" from being IN the fire. (overhang)

Yeah, My AFR's also required the use of 4.160 diameter gaskets. I have a set of .040 thick cometics if you want. $100 for the pair, shipped. I only mounted them on teh block, torqued to 30 lbs then checked squish. I had to move up to .051 because my block was decked at the machine shop. I put them back in their original packaging. I think I paid $85 each.
