Default Oil Pressure Question, PLEASE HELP?

I just had a new cam & pushrods & springs & Head Gaskets & new Timing chain, put in my 2000 Formula, I just bought the car in march & noticed the car had low Oil Pressure, On start up after sitting all night when I would start the car, The car would idle around 40 psi on the stock gauge for the oil pressure. But after about 30 mins or so once the car had warmed up it would drop to about 32 psi on my stock Oil Pressure gauge.

My question is 32 psi Oil Pressure something I should be worried about or is this normal for my car

The shortblock has 103,000 miles on it & has had a fair amount of Nitrous through the motor from the last owner.

Here is a list of my mods!

Just tell me someone. Is the 32 psi for my oil pressure when the car is warmed up bad?

AHHH! Thankyou, so much, I was really getting worried. You nailed my question on the head. Hot Idle is what it is at (32PSI) So this is great news!

That is a little lower than you usually see on a stock motor, but nothing to be alarmed at, as long as the pressure goes up whn you give it gas.. When it is really freaking hot outside my prressue @ idle is about 25-30 PSI, 40-45PSI when crusing. But I have a new shortblock with loser clearances.

my 170K mile LT1 punched out JUST UNDER 20, call it 19 psi at hot idle. jumped to 60ish when I nailed it. I never had an issue and it ran fine the day I sold it. Ran so good in fact that in 3 months it ended up in a police impound from what I hear was 19 psi normal??? I'm just curious, or was mine on its last legs and I just didnt know it?

the minimum spec for oil pressure at hot idle on a OEM motor is around 10 psi,if memory serves me right.with better oils and tighter tolerances on todays motors, you don't need as much pressure as in the past.

General recommendation is 10psi for every 1000 rpm from what i'm told, BUT.... if you're constantly running at 40psi idle and then you all of a sudden drop presser to 20 psi, I think that could possibly indicate a problem reguardless of the pressure being within spec. Or am I wrong?

In this case I think it's normal, especially with a cam that big. I dropped a few PSI myself when I put in a bigger cam, I think it's perfectly normal.

i should have said an OEM LS1 motor.the old SBC motors needed more.when i did my H/C,my oil pressure dropped about 10 psi.at hot idle.this was with a ported oil pump.i freaked out at first, but as i said it's been 2+years and no problems.and i beat on my car daily, lol.

lower than 30 psi hot idle pressure in Houston is very normal. During the winter, cold pressure can be all the way up to around 60+ psi for my car. But during the summer, when it's really damn hot out, pressure drops pretty low around the 20's when sitting in traffic but goes to around 40 when cruising.
