I HAD one but you had might as well take it out, its not a big deal either way, just another factory restriction gone.

There is more power to be had by leaving it there and leaning out the Factory rich setting with a MAFT.

This is the reasoning in which aftermarket MAFs aren't beneficial to automatic vehicles, however as removing the screen does allow less restricted airflow, the change in volume is really quite negligible when compared to larger diameter Mass Air Flow Sensors/Ends.
Tuning is in every LS1tech enthusiasts future invariably and can quite easily be remedied to account for the better airflow.

Re: '02 De-screened MAF's
Many people say the 85mm screened and de-screened MAF's aren't working out so well w/basically stock '02 A4 cars. The M6 '02 cars seem to like the 85mm's much better....I know of more than a couple of people who removed 85mm MAF's after purchase (A4 owners) because of lower e.t.'s and better WOT performance w/stock MAF. I've heard this time and time again....Maybe w/a heavily modded H&C car w/headers, etc. it's a different story, but let's hear more opinions on this...specify if your car's a M6 or A4 when commenting, o.k.? WJ. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> (and what yr. you drive)

Re: '02 De-screened MAF's
I have a Pace 85mm VVS and my car screams. Ran 12.02 @ 111 on motor with bolt ons. I see H/C cars one here that barely run that number. BTW our track is at 1250'. We don't see negaitve DA's around here... It ran an 11.70 @ 115 with a small cam. I have no problems with mine.

Re: '02 De-screened MAF's
'02 M6 here... no screen. The car seemed to pick up a little on the butt-o-meter (see sig for times/dyno). It will ping if I don't use 92 octane gas... not sure if that is due to the MAF screen being absent or not...
