Default Lid question

Just picked up my 00 z and ordered a lid and ls6 maf. Everything went fine on the install, except one thing. What do you do with the 1" tube thats hooked up to the bottom of the air silencer? Probably a dumb question, sorry, new to the LS1's. Thanks in advance for any info. Oh 1 more thing, anybody ever had a cat go out on them in 32000 miles or under? Mine did.

Does your lid have a hole in the drivers side like my SLP lid? If not, you'll just have to put a little filter on the hose or make a hole in the side of your lid. With my SLP lid and 2002SS I went to the auto parts store and got a rubber elbow hose and a grommet(for hole in the lid) with 2 male extensions. Put an extension into each end of the elbow hose. Plug one end into your air pump hose. Put the grommet in the hole in your lid. Next, slide the other extension that you already placed in the elbow into the grommet. The 98-99 didn't have this air pump hose. Some manufacturers of lids don't incorporate this hole into their lids. Hope this helps.

What is that hole even for?! I just did the FRA today and noticed it for the first time... I tried to look on install university to see if I could help you with your problem, but it isn't mentioned on there...

Thanks guys for the info. I was looking through all the sites and happened upon LS1howto.com, and they just happened to mention the 00 Z's have to have a small filter for the hose. The part# for this is KN-62-1030(K&N). I did a search for this, and found it at LMPerformance for 25.99 shipping and all for anybody else who needs one . Thanks again SS and pimp.

No problem, I'd recommend doing it my way though. The way I did it makes it look factory stock. You don't have a weird filter hanging there. I probably paid $10 for everything.

NSimeri

Go to any auto parts store and pic up a filter. They are about $10. It doesn't have to be a K&N filter. $26 is way too much by the way. That hose is part of the AIR system. It injects air into the catalytic convertors upon cold start up. Basically emissions crap. Don't cut a whole in your lid. Just get the filter.

Thanks SS and unit. Unfortunately I was bored and ended up purchasing the filter before I read your replys. Doh! The actual cost for it was only 15 or so dollars, but the shipping was 9.95! Rediculous. But I guess since I already got it, I'll probably just zip tie it under the front cross member hidden away. I guess I should check back for replys sooner next time. Thanks again.
