OK, here is what i have to say about both tires,
Nittos, good street tire that can perform at the track < mainly for the street
BFG's a track tire, that works on the street. < mainly for the track
either one will probably hook pretty well, the BFG's will probably do that better, but they will wear out faster than the Nittos. If you want a street tire that hooks on the street, get the Nittos.

I don't think people are quite understanding the difference between the Nitto 555s (the ones in question) and the 555Rs (the drag radial not referenced by the poster). One's a street radial, one's a drag radial.

We had the tires mounted this morning and My first impression of them is very good. I looked at the tires before they were mounted and they have a nice stiff sidewall for good handling and steering response. Better than I had expected. 
The tread looks very cool, actually much nicer in person than in any pictures I have seen on line. The sidewalls look very nice with some serrations which most BFG tires did not have in the past.
They have a nice profile and definately have a much wider footprint than the stock Goodyear F1's that came with the car.
We only drove the car 10 miles so far but they feel like a set of BFG KDW tires from my experience. They seem to have a good amount of tractiion, maybe even a little better that the KDW tire. I think my wife will be very happy with them and they look great on her car.
They only cost $162 ea for 275/35/18 from my local tire shop which is the same as the Tire Rack. I don't know the 17" prices for the same tire.

I voted for the Nittos since that is what I have and haven't tried the BFG Sports.
If you are really bold, and don't put too many miles on the car/year, try a set of the Nitto 555RII's. These are the best DOT street tire for cornering grip.

Good posts. I'm in the market to replace my junkie sumitomo HTRZ II's, which honestly aren't that bad, but I think its because I'm accustomed to them.
I'll keep watching this thread, but hearing what ^^ said I might check out the RIIs, but the price/performance of the BFG Goodrich seems attractive.

mickey thompson et street radial is better than both of those, but u gotta take it easy in the rain because if the water starts to puddle up in the road your gonna be floating

Another vote here for the G-Force Sports. They hook up phenomenally well for a street tire and aren't too terribly expensive for what they are. I've had them about 3 months and have been quite pleased with them so far. Very little traction issues and they handle great in the rain too.
Wish I'd known about these back when I had the Supra. Never got traction to save my life.
