Default LG Motorsports cams(what's their big secret)

I just bought the lg motorsports G5X4 cam. Am I the only one that would like to know what the specs are on this cam. When I called them they made it sound like the cam was promising, but who knows.

Who thinks this will be a good choice of parts?
LG cam (G5X4)
pacesetter (race)headers and offroad ypipe(next year i plan on getting kooks)
slp 85mm mass air
slp air lid
FAST 90mm intake and throttle body
4.10 gears
NO EGR,a/c system, and removed air pump
B&M shifter
spec stage 3 clutch

oh man jeez......this has been covered so many times it's silly, i don't know what their big secret is either, i know it's no secret that their stuff is expensive....don't get me wrong, the G5X series cams are proven performers, especially the x3 and x4 and they sound pretty damn mean, but that is the whole reason i did not entertain the idea of buying one and when i called them and asked the age old "what cam/specs" questions they didn't want to help me much less give out their "TOP SECRET" cam specs. I just wasn't crazy about taking someone's word (I don't care who they are) on specs and that I should just "trust" someone and not know for myself. So i went to Futral, and now i'm just plain ole happy.

I think you are going to be very happy with that setup.

Now you need to start saving for a new rear

Yeah I don't know why they seem so inpatient to talk to. After I bought the cam I had some more questions about setting it up and they try to blow you off. I will never buy from them again

If I decide to change to a different cam one day, I think I will go to Thunder Racing and have a custom cam grind. I've talked to them a couple of times and they are very helpful.

"I have this great recipe... It's 3 eggs, 2 ___, 4.5 this, 3.5 that..."

Most shops don't want other folks to be able to just copy everything they dream up.

You should see how folks are about stuff like intakes... they don't want folks to take pictures of them at shows etc.

yeah they also have good products and are well known for their cams.......as well as texas speed, i didn't used to be really impressed by TSP, because a couple of cars around here that had some work done there were'nt anything special and they kind of had some issues with tuning etc. but over the past couple of years i have heard nothing but great things about them and their customer service and they have really stepped up huge on the "bad assedness" of their cams as well as killer prices lately.

yeah i see that side of the arguement and to an extent understand it, but without posting up exact "cam doctored" specs, noone can "COPY" their cam and from a consumer's perspective i want to know what i'm getting without having to turn around and pay for a cam doctor.....especially on top of the price of their cams. Just my .02.

One thing that I wasn't real impressed with was TSP off road y-pipe. I installed it on one of my customers cars at the shop. It worked but you had to do alittle modifying.

well that's going to be the case with almost any parts though, you're going to have to tinker with them a bit, but that's also why i say "GO CUSTOM" when it comes to y-pipes.

Hey Prostock John, as far as copying cams goes......why doesn't everyone else have a problem with posting up specs.......for example.....compare the Torquer v.2 to F14, virtually identical advertised specs, but i guarantee the cams drive, sound, perform, and idle differently, and they will come on and peak in different spots as well due to the difference in manufacturers, lobes, etc. so i just really can't completely buy the whole (not wanting people to copy my cam) argument. I'm not being difficult i just don't understand it, i would think it hurts business........z28misfit as i said above....the cams are PROVEN performers and your car will do well probably 415-420 hp and 395-400 tq give or take at the wheels with the 90/90 setup cuz there is only so much power that can be squeezed out of stock heads.

Your setup isnt 2 bad. I would get ride of the SLP 85mm MAF, as it has been known to cause lean issues as well as its a nightmare to tune. Your stock MAF is more than capable to handle what your going to through at it. I would also toss a cut-out on there and a ls6 intake if you dont already have one. As far as the rest goes i would say you should be some where around 410-420rwhp with a cutout. Give or take a few a ponies.

As you mentioned before, kooks or qtp are going to give you a little more than pacesetters. Not a whole lot up top but more through out the curve. When you switch to kooks i would maybe even look into swapping the Y-pipe/cutout for a true dual system.

Is there some sort of confidentiality agreement when buying one?

Why doesn't someone who bought one post up the Cam Card info? Or do they not ship with one? And even if they didn't, I gotta think that some of the people that bought one Cam Doctored it...

The madness I find with LG is they don't even want to give you a cam card with your puchase.
What about DCR?
What about degreing?

How the hell can I put an efficient performing combo together if I do not have the .006, .200 specs? Not to mention ICL?

Some poeple that do not really understand how it works just stick it in there blindly, or they just rely on what LG feeds them.

Do their cams work? Hell yes.
Are the combos optimised with their cams? Very few if you are not having the whole work done inhouse at LG.

Can their cams still be copied? Hell yes, and some of them are floating on this board right under their eyes (But if you mention LG in your post, it will vanish )

It has been done and LG gets butt hurt over it. It really is a damn joke.

Honestly.....how much trouble does Thunder have selling their TRex cam? Or TSP selling their MS3 cam? Wouldn't people just copy the cam and never ever buy from them?

Now on the other side of it......how much business has LG lost because the play their little game? BTW....before it's posted...I am not pissed or worked up about it. I just think it's really silly.

EDIT....IBTL

no they don't ship the card with the cam and it's some sort of unspoken rule that if you buy one of Lou's cams you have to keep quiet about it..........i guess. edit......ha ha IBTL, that's great!!
