I pulled the sheet metal from the under side of the driver's side valve cover and have not had any problems with the rocker arms hitting.

i found a post where someone found a bunch of oil in his intake manifold. but he wasnt running a catch can. i have been running one. so maybe i dont need spacers either. thatll save me some cash.. but nice to see you have what it is im talking about exactly... have you looked underneath to see how it looks after so many miles. i noticed when using the stock heads there is a lil scratch from one mounting bolt that touched the sheet metal

First, check your wipe. It sounds like your adjusting nuts are not down far enough. They will hit if not down enough, I made a ton of measurements when I had my heads on the bench this winter. If your wipe is OK, then you may need spacers or "possibly" different pushrods. The other option is to go deeper on the lifter preload. What is your current preload and pushrod length? Are the heads milled? Unmilled AFR heads require 7.350 pushrods if I remember correctly, but this should be verified.

The adjusting nuts not only set preload, but wipe pattern on the valve stem. This will also be pushrod dependent as well. I wouldn't buy spacers until you sort out your wipe pattern and preload. I definitely wouldn't remove the baffle.

PS: Spacers should not be required with these rockers.

When I ran my 346 with the 1.7 Crane's I had to "dent" the area in that steel tray under the valve covers where the rockers where slightly making contact with them. Nothing like running it a little to see exactly where the clearance is needed....LOL

I wouldn't remove the baffling....just dent it in the right spots to make some room....no big deal really.

LME installed everything and i think they put longer pushrods... this is on a 408 iron block, cam is 244/253.644 115 but i dont know if i can argue the build... pushrods are comp cams #7955 i believe these are 7.40", cometic head gasket .051". i made sure i purchased the motor as a long block so everything was checked out by them and installed.... as i did not want to have to deal with all the ptv issues and what not.
