Default first drive with the Turbo SS!!

just fixed my misfire problems...fixed the v band clamp leak..and drove the turbo ss for the first time.

first impressions...car drives nice..small cam (218/218 114). quiet as hell too! my 4" DP goes to a 3.5 inch exhaust with a cutout, then to a hooker catback.

it starts to load up and hit 10:1 A/F when you get into boost, so its clearly a tuning issue....that and my exhaust fell off because i forgot to tighten it...but all in all im stoked!

i was having a missfire problem, which ended up being the coil packs plugged in wrong (i relocated one side for clearance from the turbo header)

for those of you who feel like giving up on your home builds...dont! 4 hours ago i was ready to throw a pry bar through the windshield because i was so aggrivated with this car, but it all paid off when i immediately had a crowd of people around me at the gas station gawking at my work.

good night...i sure wont be able to sleep tonight!

What are the specs on your turbo? If I remember correctly you posted in one of my threads that you had the same turbo as me. How is your spool time? Congrats on getting it up and running!

im 3 seconds from englishtown..and i do all my own tuning...so im set!

just did some tuning on it...car MOVES big time...11 psi..makes 7 psi by 3500 and then hits full boost at 4k then pulls like a monster till redline.

A/F is still rich while in boost, and i can get some exhaust heat generated down low to get it to spool faster, but judging by my quick tune...things are looking good.

only problem is i have a oil seal issue on the turbo, it burns oil and seeps oil out of the exhaust housing and the CHRA...im running a scavenge pump, and a unrestricted feed line, so i may have to restrict some oil flow, but i have a feeling its gonna be a **** seal...this is a used turbo afterall.

been in Florida since 1990. Yea I've hung out with the *****. I know Big Willie, lol.

I need to tune my **** on the street, there's a guy that has a wideband and HP Tuners, I especially need my part throttle tuning done.

I make 526 but i think I have 550 in her, we'll see. Actually numbers don't really matter to me as long as she pulls like a raped ape from every rpm.

Try a .060 restrictor and work down from there. Don't go any smaller though then a .045 though with a large frame. If it is the seals, then I would have Jose take a look at it. He may can work some magic on it.....hehe

i took a copper flare plug that comes on new air conditioning units...i reflared it to 37 degree AN specs..and used a center punch to punch a .062 hole..works like a charm!

and it cost about 35 cents.

update:

blew a silicon elbow off the turbo and shredded it on the ground..then ran it over haha.

I looked at the boost guage and it said 15psi! Let off the throttle and BOOOM...i think something happened with the hose i was using..it didnt open the wastegate nor did it open the bypass valve! im on a stock motor too! the car pulled hard as **** though hahaha no knock, A/F was in teh 11's.

new parts on the way Im contemplating taking off this MBC and just running a 10 psi wastegate spring. any opinions?

Spring pressure is a fine idea for your stock bottom end
