Default Panhard Rod Is Toast.

Much to my horror when I was puting my exhaust on I found that my Panhard Rod was litteraly rotting away. There was almost nothing left of the top brace and the bar was pretty rough. Odd since the rest of the car was solid underneath. Anyway. I see an Edelbrock one in summit for about $100. Can I do better? How is Edelbrock in the suspension game?

Yea I didnt get a great look yet but there is a second bar (The uppermost bar) that seems to either be a part of or complimentary to the Panhard Rod, and that is the worst. Its seriosuly barely one piece. Rotted right through. I have no idea why just the one part would be so bad and the rest of the car not.

BMR makes a replacement for the upper as well...
click the link and look at panhard rod relocation, its past half way down and then get an adjustible rod for the bottom..

I got a global west panhard bar off the forums for really cheap and have had no problems what so ever with it. It has definately been much better than the crappy stock phb.

Not sure about Edelbrock, but BMR makes a nice PH lowering bracket setup, nost sure if it's bolted to the existing upper bracketry though, I'm thinking it does and if thats rusted away you'll need to do something to replace that piece. check out BMR's website they may have something for ya.

I bought mine used off the boards for 50$, those things are for sale every where. never buy one new, same with my LCAs, 50$ used and they work great.

Where is the best place to keep my eye open for cheap suspension parts? On here, or ebay etc?... I took a closer look, and mostly is the upper brace thats gone. Seems pretty flimsy to begin with. And the panhard rod itself if intact its just awful weak looking. Does anyone make a standard replacement or cheap upgrade for the upper? The BMR stuff looks great but I dont really need a "relocation" type setup like that.

A few launches at the strip and my stock PHB was warped beyond belief. Anyone try eliminating the upper? I don't really see much need for it.

My thoughts exactly. I realize that it was probably put there for a reason....but that bracket on the passenger side seems plenty beefy without that upper bar connected to it. I mean. My upper is so gone that its not doing anything at all, and that bracket looks fine, no stress cracks etc.. I am tempted just to buy a nice bar and toss that upper bar and keep an eye on it.

Ordered a BMR PHB. I'll go from there.
