Howdy! I just bought my car and replaced the cat because the guy before me was a deuche and didn't replace it went the light first went off about 10k miles ago. Would there be any complications from running a bad, clogged cat for that long?

I cant see how it would have hurt anything else. If it was that badly clogged you would have had some pretty major drivabiliy problems. Like poor power and gas mileage. But most of the time when a car goes bad is because of a misfire or something. So if your car is runnin properly now than I cant see how it would have damaged anything.

College Station, huh? How's things in Texas?
Your exhaust would get really hot. I don't think it would mess up the motor unless it was overheating the engine. It might mess up your 02 sensors. Replace it when you have the time.

Maybe if it is causing the engine to run hot. That would require more frequent oil changes.
Also you get better fuel milage with fresh oil. Doubt much though.
