Default oil pump question??

Hey guys. When i did the swap form my LS1 oil pump to a LS6 oil pump i noticed something. My LS1 pump had 1 bolt holding the pickup tube. The LS6 had 2 Holes for bolts. Should i have goted another bolt for that? Could this be why my oil presure is low? THX

I noticed the same thing when I was doing mine, I didn't have any loss in oil pressure though using the one bolt. When fully warm it is slighly below 40 and at WOT is somewhere above 60. Yours may vary but when you say it is low, how low do you mean?

cold idel is 35 and when its warmed up im at 25 at idel and below 40 when driving. I think my O ring is messed up. Man i hate to have to tare it apart. After i redo it is there any way to be sure the O ring is in right without puting it all back together?

Did you replace the o-ring with the new pump?

That's low pressure, how was your pressure before all of the work?

yes i replaced the O ring. I was sure it was in there right. Or at least i thought it was. Befor my hot idel was between 35-40 and when driving it would be around 40-50. Its real weird. The car sounds great when i start it up, but if i go for a drive by the time the car gets warmed up, the loud ticking comes. My best guess is the lifters are not getting oiled.

25 psi at hot idle is below average, but not necessarily too low. My stock oil pump would sit at an indicated 18-20 psi when hot, did that for a couple of years. It is higher now that I have an LS6 style pump in there, not by a whole lot, but higher than yours.

How far below 40 when driving? If you get up and go, say 5k, what does it go to?

The old rule of thumb is 7-10 psi per 1,000 rpm.

It should be okay, but you might want to get back in there and put a different ring in...and very carefully just to be safe.
