So I found a 2000 T/A WS6 with 26,000 Miles on it. I'm going to take a look at it this coming weekend. The car is bone stock and is a M6. I've seen pics of it and it looks like its in great condition. Is $17,000 a good price?

Sounds overpriced to me. Over on KBB.com, a car such as that one in EXCELLENT condition is supposedly worth $13,665 with that mileage.

T/A's are up the ass expensive now. I've seen so many 02's with asking prices at 18 and 19k, when the blue book isn't even close. Unless you're a complete Pontiac/Firebird fanatic, i'd try to find a Z28 with the same equipment. The asking prices alone seem to be over 5k less on average.

Must be the "last of the breed" thing.

A car is worth whatever you're willing to pay for it.
I paid $16k for my car last fall with 46k on it and don't regret it one bit. It could easily pass for a 4600 mile car.
And as someone who used to sell cars...KBB and NADA don't really mean squat for certain vehicles, it's all driven by the local market.
If you plan on keeping the car for more than a year or two, "book" value isn't worth worrying about on these vehicles.
Price a clean 5.0 Mustang lately. :thumbsdow

Asking prices are higher in the summer for sportscars, you should just wait until fall to get one. I bet he would sell it for 14k and let you screw his wife if you bought it in October.

I guess what you need to hear is that 17k is too high, and the real value of the car is closer to 13-15k. Still, drive it, look at it. If it's in great shape it may be worth pursuing, but don't feel like that asking price and mileage is necessarily a deal.

Actually it's 16,500. That's not a bad price. Try to talk him down to 15.5 grand cash.

That guy spent close to 30k when it was new. If it sat this long in the garage (very low miles for the year) you know it was worshipped and he'd be a fool to accept less. Who cares what year it is on a car that isn't made anymore? It's not like there's a new one in dealerships taking the shine off the 4th gen T/A.

For what it's worth, I turned down an offer of $27,000 on my 46k mile Firehawk a couple months ago. Not for sale. Now I just bought the twin turbo kit and I'm so glad I still have the car.

I'd pay a thousand under his asking price and enjoy a crisp WS6 that isn't going to be made anymore.

I agree with Firehawk#608 - I just paid 22K for an 02 TA w/ 5,200 original miles. I figured that's basically a brand new car and one that's not being made anymore for 7k-9k less than the guy that bought it at the dealership 4 years ago.

My dad just bough my brother a "99 SS with 16,000 miles on it, well equipped. It runs like new. It has a couple of small blemishes but it still feels new. The guy was asking 13,000. Before we took the 3 hour drive, he said he'd let it go for 12,500. We got there and noticed a couple other things wrong. He let it go for 12,250 when all was said and done.

Don't promise anything over the phone. Take a good look at it in person and make an offer of about 13-15k. That's the highest I would go.

Well I talked to the owner of the car on Sunday night and he said that $17,000 was the lowest he could go.... but hopefully I can talk him down $500-$1000 and then I would definitely buy it on the spot! We will see this weekend I guess. The only thing is that I've been looking for an F-body for about four months now and I'm getting really impatient. I guess me being VERY picky on what car I want to buy really isn't helping the car search situation. If anyone knows anyone selling an 00-02 WS6 or SS with low miles on it that is somewhat close to St. Louis please let me know because I need a bad ass ride for the summer. Thanks everyone.

If you're paying cash see if he'll take 16.5. Really though 17,000 isn't a bad price considering blue book on it is 16.5 and the time of season it is.

WS6's hold there resale better than all the LS1's except for the Firehawk for some reason. Especially the 02's being the last year made. I think some people can't get past that.

What's happening to the Firehawks in your area? They aren't holding their value? Are they now cheaper than the WS6's if you can even find them?
