C4 Corvettes - Grand Sport, LT4?

C4 vette question
I thought maybe someone here might know, but in 1996 they made some Grand Sport vettes, we've all seen them, blue with black rims, white stripes, etc. Anyway, they also made some yellow ones, with black ZR1 rims, and it had the LT4 as well. Now is this a grand sport? I thought it was, but can't find the info on it. Any help is appreciated!

There is a guy in Decatur that has a GS C4 vette, I raced him and smoked him lol. He said he had like 320 HP or something like that. Well, I can't say smoked him but I did beat him from a 15mph roll to 45mph down water street/51 south buisness route. He's a cool guy and I run into him all the time. Next time I see him I'll ask him.

It's true, all 6 speed cars in 1996 got the 330hp LT4 engine, plus there was a special Grand Sport edition which was blue with white stripes, black wheels and red hash marks on the front fenders.
They made a total of 1000 Grand Sports, 810 coupes and 190 convertibles.

I remember when the first batch of LS1 powered cars came out.....and we where still rocking the LT4 powered 96 vette(green). It was my cousins car, he had air box, air foil, hypertech, and no rear mufflers(just the one in the middle and cats).... that car would beat every LS1 that rolled next to us.
The LT4 actually made more power then the advertised 330.
Awesome cars....if I had the extra cash,...i'd make a rocket outta one. My uncle, still owns a 96 collector LT4 with 10k miles.... cool cars.

The LT4 was advertised at 330hp so as to not take away from the new forthcoming LS1 rated at 345hp. It was common knowledge then that they rated the LT4 low. She was good for at least 350hp. And the LT4 in a limited number of SS's and WS6's in '97 were some of the fastest F-bodies made. You can find out more at LT4.com or Grand Sport Registry.
