Default 10psi on stock lt1??

my buddy just got a sts kit with a t67 with injectors and pump and everything else. he wants to run 10psi on the stock motor. to me that seems pretty high. i dont think he would listen to anything i say but i just wanted to see what you guys think. it is non intercooled and no alky injection. thanks

6-7 PSI on a stock bottem end is Risky. I would have it detuned ( if possible ) to around 5 PSI.
Forged Rods and Pistons are required along with several other things if you want a reliable S/C LT1

gotta drop the compression down, and get some forged internals, try a thicker head gasket maybe

Thicker head gasket, fuel system up to par with msd ignition box and coil and i would run 10lbs tuned all day long without thinking twice

Sounds like a plan. Vent the valvecover and put an oil catch in the pcv line as well.

10psi nonintercooled sounds like a bit much on 10.5 compression.

It probably wouldn't break right away, but I don't think it would last a long time like that.

Oops. I missed the "nonintercooled" part. That's a must.

I've been running 7 psi with my sts for a few months now with no problems, but with a Speed Inc. tune. Motor is completely stock. I don't have an intercooler or meth injection either. Of course I might blow up next week. That'll be my opportunity to go all out with a new motor.

Good advise!

I ran 9Psi on mine back in the day. One night it was cold out and spiked to 11psi and she was gone

Thicker head gasket and it won't be 10.5:1 anymore

I would do it nonintercooled if it was my setup, but thats just my .02

TwoFast4Lv- What kind of setup? No boost controller? I'm not sure what accessories they sell with that STS kit.

I ran 10psi INTERCOOLED for a long time on a stock LT1. Using a D1-sc with the twin intercoolers.

The motor had a powerdyne on it for about 20K miles before that. The powerdyne kit made 6psi non-intercooled.
It would detonate if I got bad gas, or if it was really hot outside. Other than that it ran OK.

IMHO, 6psi isnt worth the cost of the kit. 10psi was def worth the cost though.

An LT1 can easily handle 10 pounds of INTERCOOLED boost and a good dyno tune... I would only go with about 6-7 pounds of NON intercooled boost and a dyno tune
