Default 6 weeks of work and waiting...

came to an end tonight in disappointing fashion. my cam install, that turned into a h/c install after so long was over. everything started out great on startup, the nail biting seconds(feels like forever) passed and the oil psi shot up.. the as im told, typical smoke billowed out and the car very slowly learned to live on its own. after full temp came and went and the car running almost flawlessly, i decided to shut it off, cap the coolant and go for a ride. after a very slugish restart, the car idled poorly and eventually died. after a few more failed attempts i decided to give my neighbors a break and call it a night. so here i am after a long night of work praying that something isnt f-ed up. it was such a wonderful feeling for those few minutes when it was going good... knowing all your work paid off.. oh well, we'll see what tomm. brings -g

sorry this isnt a useful thread, just needed to vent. -g

I am sure its fine. Sounds like you took long enough to make sure its right. I agree with you just probably need a tune.

The flashing light indicates misfire conditions. Probably need a tune, what size cam you have? Also there could just simply be something stupid like a loose wire somewhere too.

Hope you get it sorted out. Facing the same situation as soon as my heads arrive, and gotta admit, it's kind of scary doing a H/C when there's no tuner near by to bail you out.

yea, you need a tune, you may have fouled out some plugs. Make sure the wires are on the plugs and the coils.

i appreciate the input guys, i feel better already. Yea i really wish there was a tuner around the block from me, but im going to have to plan something out. i thought i could get away w/o a tune with a somewhat mild cam, and heads.
specs are 224/228 .588 on xe-r lobes, heads are stage 2 patriot ls6 59cc.

Nice to see another local on here I'm in Bossier. My truck was running like crap for a few months after my cam install. I drove down to Walker to Futral for a dyno-tune. That's still the best thing I've done for my truck.

trailered the car to futral and got the tune done... all went well, car put down 418/397 corrected on a dynojet. im fairly happy with the numbers and the car feels and sounds a whole lot better. swapped the extremely fouled plugs for some fresh tr-6's and stock wires for msd as well. the car now however in its endless quest to cause me headaches has developed a tick. quite loud and only does it sporadically. seems like only when i get a little aggresive with it, then it goes away. it wont do it for me with the hood up. ill update you when i find out more. -g
