Re: LOUDMOUTH!!
Don't know what the gains numerically would be, I've
never dynoed my car, but I did see 2 tenths off my ET's at the track after I installed mine. Don't think it answers your question, but you will see some
performance improvement for sure.

Re: LOUDMOUTH!!
The "LM" got me 11 rwhp and the SLP Y-pipe got me 7.
This all with stock manifolds and cats in place!

Re: LOUDMOUTH!!
I got a Loudmouth exhaust and at first I didn't like it. It took me a little while to get use to it but now I love it. You learn to drive around the drone and it scares the hell out of ricers. I still kept my old exhaust in case I ever headers.
If I had the money I would have bought a Borla but I'm satisfied with the loudmouth for now.

Re: LOUDMOUTH!!
Does anyone know how long the resonator is on the LM? I was thinking of getting a dynomax bullit muffler on it. Summit sells it for 35 bucks plus shipping!
BadAssBlueStripeTA - I agree with you too! That's why I'm going w/ the header set-up.

Re: LOUDMOUTH!!
Why drive around to avoid the drone when you can get an exhaust that is nearly as loud, but with a clean refined sound. That would be a wiser decision. Some say the price can't be beat, but you get what you pay for. I have heard of a ton of people getting rid of their loudmouth, I haven' t heard that about any other exhaust.

Re: LOUDMOUTH!!
badassstripedta get some LT headers i promise it will be loud enough, in fact you probably won't like it.
But it is fun to start your car with people behind it and scare the **** out of them.

Re: LOUDMOUTH!!
Well, I have a ws6, and I noticed a large gain in mid-range power...as far as the noise goes, I was extremely satisfied in the first couple weeks, but now it seems to have quieted down a bit, and I'm looking for a way to make it louder . You may think I'm crazy, but I like loud, and the idle's just not loud enough for me.

Re: LOUDMOUTH!!
To answer the original question.........
Venkman is about right. The SS/WS6 exhaust will provide a power improvement over the Z28/TA exhaust, but not quite up to "aftermarket" levels. However, the factory-optional SLP exhaust that it sounds like your friend's SS came with will match or exceed the power gains found with most aftermarket systems. Problem is it's also one of the quietest. If that's a problem for him, then the "loudmouth" will definitely fix it. Just don't expect any power gains, and it DOES take a certain affinity for the unrefined to like a loudmouth. Personally, it wasn't for me.
In summary (I've rambled enough): Buy catbacks for SOUND, FITMENT, and LOOKS preference. Buy headers for POWER (and more of whatever sound you created with that catback!!!)

Re: LOUDMOUTH!!
i haven't had my car dyno'd since i put the loudmouth on it. i dropped 3/10's in the 1/4 mile with just the loudmouth and SLP intake lid. it does drone pretty bad at a couple of places but it doesn't really bother me. the noise just depends on personal preference.
