Default Slow mustang

A buddy of mine sister has a 04 mustang gt convertible A4. nice car just not fast. One night we got the idea to take this thing to the track. I ran it, and with a .124 reaction time this car only ran a 15.06 in the 1/4. I am posting this to give a true number of a stock mustang gt. I feel like some of the numbers on this site are a little far fetched. The track was Houston Raceway Park in Baytown, TX www.houstonraceway.com

That is very slow for a mustang Gt.
Most will run a half second faster than that.

I knew the '96-'98 GT were 15 sec turds but thought the '99-'04 cars were much better, thats pathetic. I took my '04 Monte Carlo to the track, it has the small base motor, 3.4 (180 hp) and went 15.6.

Thats sad.. my buddies 05 gt auto ran 13.8 @ 100.3 bone stock to the paper filter.... I bet you left it in drive and let it shift early or something..

Theres a 40hp difference between the 04 and 05...we arent talking about the new model GT.

It should be good for low-mid 14's.

The fact that it is an A4 and convertible makes it the slowest gt of that year. Convertibles are heavier and autos are slower. A 5spd hardtop gt would run much better.

Yeah...thats true...an auto vert GT could easily run high 14's....bad weather could put it into 15.0 range.

The weather was not bad just very humid. thats just how the south Texas coast is though. I talked to friend of mine (A Ford Tech.) and he said thats just how the a4 vert GT's are.

Auto, vert, AND it hot weather? what do you expect? seems about right for that car given the conditions. But take a 05/06 M5 GT and I'm sure it will be a second faster or more. Oh and the 05/06 still came with 300fwhp. -Mark
