Default Ws6 just hooker muff or cat back??

I am ready to get that way to quiet exhaust off, but I hear the ws6 has a freer exhaust already, so will I benefit from the cat back, or just the muffler to do me about the same HP gain and sound.

Thanks for the input,

From what i hear the ws6 factory pipes are fine. If you really just want the sound and better performance and don't want to spend money on an entire cat back sys. then just get the muffler. If you do get a catback system you'll probably see about 1-2hp just from replacing the pipes. Maybe not even that. I have a 01 ws6 a4 and i just ordered a Magnaflow system instead of just the muffler just to get the most out of it and replace the factory pipes with magnaflows. I'm guessing on the gains from replacing the pipes but i dont' think it's necessary.

How does she sound, where from and about how much.
I have heard a few sound bytes of the hooker, but I have little info on the magnaflow.

I never really was interested in hooker from the get go. My 1st choice was borla then corsa and finally after many sound bytes i chose magnaflow. I took the cheapest and probably the best flowing exhaust. Sounds of a magnaflow will depend on who you talk to but to me i think it sounds great. I wanted something that wasn't annoyingly loud but something that rumbled at idle and cruise. Then on WOT it's gotta sound mean. I ordered mine from Rapid Motorsports. I can't wait to get it and then i'll try to install it myself so i won't have to spend a few more bucks to have a shop install it. After that i think i'll do a CAI kit.

the hookercat back is a great catback. It sounds really good and makes good power, its also flanged where it enters the muffler so its very easy to drop the muffler off at the track for a weight reduction and stright pipe.

Thanks for the input,
I just ordered the magnaflow muffler it was $114 to the door. if it does not do what I wanted I can always go with the hooker cat back at that time.

I bought the whole magnaflow sys. cuz i wanted the look of theirs on my car. Magnaflow won't disappoint you. Although i haven't even got it on my car yet i have heard good things about magnaflow.

If I remember correctly, the WS-6's I-pipe is the same size (2 3/4") as regular Formula's, Z28's, and SS's without the optional SLP 3" cat-back. Only Firehawk's (don't remember if they all came with an SLP cat-back, could've been optional as well) and SS's with the optional SLP cat-back would have had a 3" I-pipe already. I think the WS-6 and SS muffler was supposed to be free-er flowing, like 20% free-er flowing (not exactly sure though). Just thought I'd share that point.
