Default paging bob at epp and kp... what converter you running?

Hey guys,

I went to Milan Dragway last night hoping for my first 9 second pass... we'll I couldn't even get out of the 12s... I have a transmission problem and was just curious what type of torque converter you run/ reccommend for my TH400. It's been brought to my attention that "someone" sold me a cheap TCI street flight converter and now it can not handle my 650 ft/lbs of torque. The car wouldn't even spin the tires for a burn out, I couldnt even feather the throttle to do the burnout... then, silly me, I tried to drive it down the track and went through all three gears BEFORE the 1/8 mile... The trans just flies through the gears, it's sick from 2g to 7000rpms i cant snap my fingers fast enough to show you. I had no more gear before half track! What converter would you run? Price is not the question, i want the BEST parts! hook me up guys, thanks!

The only two things impressive about last night was the amzing hamburger i ate and the 1.40 60' off the trans brake.

ATI d1sc procharger at 16lbs
SDCE
w2w 346 blower motor
TH400 4000 stall with brake
DTS 12bolt with 3.73

Sounds like it's too loose or it's messed up. Or your trans is slipping.

you ran a 1.40 60' and couldnt get out of the 12s?

what was you 1/8 mile times and mph?

What size tires?

I'm already well in to 3rd gear in the 1/8, 1/4 mile is just watching the scenery. I use an 8" ATI MRT converter, most likely your converter is too loose or something is slipping somewhere if you are 7000rpm by the 1/8. My car hits 6850 or so at the end of the 1/4 @ 144mph with a 3.70 and 28" tires.

For a turbo 400 the convertor I would recommend would be one from Neal Chance. Give Marty a call there, he can help you out. Bob

Yeah it went 1.40 in the sixty then just blew through the gears... the transmission had NO GEAR left before half track... I have a TCI SSF3800 nitrous converter in the car currently... I think i broke the sprags or the fins are all bent but i feel it slipping... I put the car on the trans brake and my tach's reading almost 6200 *waaaaay too high* and making 12# boost... Im pretty sure the converter is gone... I'm going to give marty at neal chance a call... I need a converter that's going to work, i dont care how much it costs, just want to start testing this thing so i can get some times out of it...

KP... What stall speed you running in your car because you almost have an identical setup i have Also, what did you set your limiter/ shift points on you w2w motor? I have 28x10.5 M/T ET Drags. I let off the throttle before half track (6.60@90 in the 1/8). You also running a spool?

This is becoming a complete utter nightmare... but i'll git r' done... hopefully...

you probably need a 4000-4500 stall. should be perfect that will put you right in the meat of your powerband.

swap that converter out, should be no biggie.

I'm running a TCT 10" converter, drives great on the street. I've seen 160mph on the dyno.

Mine flashes to 4300rpm, I shift at 6750 and go through at 6850rpm, rev limiter at 6900. It drops to around 6000rpm beteween shifts.

I have a spool also, any of the better converter places will help you out. Main reason I use ATI is 24hr shipping, I got mine to my door in 3 days. A good converter is worth every penny, it can make the difference between a so-so running drag car and a good running drag car. In the big picture 1000.00 for a good converter is one of the best investments you can make if ET is your goal.

Also contacted DTS and gonna put a spool in the rear... Hopefully this will solve it... seesh too many gosh darn bugs to work out... Thanks again guys... Im hoping to make it back to milan on June 28th...
