Ok, maybe someone can shed some light on my problem.
Car: 98 Camaro Z28 56k miles, FRA, !EGR, (3.23 rear) everything else is stock.
The problem: Basically if I have a passenger in the car, the car will not shift to 3rd at WOT, it just bangs the limiter. When I am the only one in the car it will shift perfectly into 3rd. Part throttle shifts are perfect, no slipping. Fluid is full, pinkish, and not burnt, could use a change though.
Is this a tuning problem, tranny problem or what?
Thanks
Jordan

Most cases this turns out to be a tuning problem. Try and get someone to back off the 2-3 shift mph shift point from the stock setting (72 mph) down to 69 or 70. Also remember, dont do high rpm 2-3 shifts on a hot tranny. They dont like it to much. This is the best way to fry the 3-4 clutches. If you are gonna race it, let it cool down first. For what its worth.

I have found that some tuning OS will have incorrect values or translate them incorrectly when the PCM is read. I found a glitch in a few 01 f-bodys and know of a few peoople that actually gave up and swapped to TH350/TH400 because they couldn't get it to shift before tagging the limiter.
The table is in the speedometer table. I used the compare feature to identify it. It's a trans shaft rotation value that is out of wack.
Be sure to lower your wot mph by 3-5 mph and then the rpm a few hundred lower than you want it to shift at. The converter will likely allow and slight over shoot which is pretty common provided it's within reason.
Good luck!

I went back and forth between the tranny shop and the tuner. My guess is your trannys fixing to die. If you really want to know get the car to a tranny shop where they have a MAKO tranny diagostic device. Its a little bigger than a handheld car tuner and plugs into the same port under your dash. If the computer is sending the command for 2 to 3rd shift it will show up. If you got signal and it don't shift its the tranny. If you don't get the comand to shift before it limits out its the computer.
