How fast do you think a 99 z28 would be with $5000 worth of mods. What mods would you do? I want good overall performance and a deep exhaust...What would one expect rwhp wise?

If you want to stay n/a I'd go:

subframes, lca's, torque arm (all to help plant power and cut down wheel hop)

lid
catback or cutout
ported t/b
headers
gears and/or converter (are you m6 or a4?)
heads/cam package

that should put you at or a little past the 5k mark depending on if you do a lot of your own install or not.

edit: Oh yeah, forgot to add, then save for some sticky tires and a new rear!

5000 bucks, That's a lot of dope! I'd be wound up like an eight day clock <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

On a serious note shop the classifieds for a 12 bolt or 9 inch. If your parts can't handle the power what's the use?
Next buy look for a better reciprocating assembly with forged internals. Buy a big bottle and enjoy the speed.

P.S. No matter what you choose to do shop the used parts section for good deals so you can get more bang for your buck.

M6: buy a good rear with 4.10s and tires to start
A4: buy a high stall converter and tires.

After that it is want your tradeoffs are for idle, emmissions, and drivability.

An airlid is an absolute and if you flog a T-Top or vert, SFC's should be high on the list.

A good catback will get you sound and power, although a cut-out will get you power and loud for cheap.

A pulley and Ported TB are inexpensive with a good HP/$ ratio.

Headers and offroad pipe will finish the exhaust.

go for a cam after that.

How many miles on the car?? I would stay away from a supercharger or turbo until you get the money to do the rearend and suspension. Go with heads, Cam, intake, and take care of the horrible rear end. then if you get another 5k, you put a blower or something on it. If you do boost it, the last thing you will want to do is blow your rear right after you spent all your money.

Full suspension first:
Hals, sfc, phb, tq arm, lcas. $1300
tires $300
GTP heads and cust. ground cam $2000
convertor $700
Misc. bolt ons $700-$1000

OK, a little over budget but damn this setup would cook!!
If you have a 6 speed...skip the heads and some susp. and go with a clutch and rear...I hope you don't have a M6.
The A4 setup should go low 11s.
