Y-Pipe? Is it worth it? Ok....so i was wondering if it is worth it to buy a y-pipe that hooks up to the stock manifolds? because i really wanted to get rid of that stock restrictive one. I want to get LT's but im still considering it since i live in CA

Negative Even tho that Y looks Horrible.. Belive it or not .. It dose not really effect Air Flow.. Exepcially with Stock manfiolds. And Exhaust.. Wait till you do a complete exhaust to Get your Y..

The stock Y-pipe actually flows pretty well. You won't see any gains from an aftermarket Y-pipe. If any gains are seen it is because of the new cats over stock ones that are probably partly clogged.

Yea the only reason why i was considering a new Y is because i was looking at the stock one and it looks very restrictive but if it flows pretty good then theres no reason to change it.

I just replace my y-pipe a couple of weeks ago with the SLP y-pipe. I already had the loudmouth cat back on. But it made a huge difference in the sound, it is much deeper and got rid of a lot of the rasp from the loudmouth. I did notice a bit of a gain from it also. I got it used (looked brand new no dents or scratches at all) for a great deal so I think it was worth it for me. But I wouldn't spend $200.00 on a new one from SLP.

In my opinion, its worth it. I'm going back to Cali, so I feel ya!!! It will make you SOUND better, HP gains will be minimal though. Listen to LS1sounds.com.....the GMMG section. Listen to the '02 Firehawk with the SLP Y/cats....its sounds so much better than the completely stock setups on there. Thats my advice!
