Default Nicked the limiter going to 3rd.

Well I ran into a Cobra today heading home from eating, Had 2 other people with me (maybe the 2nd time the backseat has been used?) anyway, going into 3rd the car barely nicked the limiter then shifted. I checked the fluid and its the right color and smells fine. The transmission was rebuilt with a stage II about 4 months ago, deeper pan, the works, lil heavier clutches and stuff. Could this be the tranny or just tuning issues? I've never hit it before on the new tranny, my shift point is about 6200 and I'm not sure on the limiter. What would you guys guess?

isn't the stock limiter 6100 rpms? meaning if you put your shift points at 6200 rpm's and the stock limiter is 6100 rpms, you'd nick it every time WOT. 100 rpm touch would be just like you said - a nick. i think this is your problem

there is a problem with the 4l60e.it is the sealing of the third clutch oil at high rpms.this is a common problem.it has to do with the lip seals on the piston as well as the oil volume sent to the clutch.we are currently working on a fix in the form of either a new piston, drum or both.the original design of the transmission didnt take into consideration the internal component speed associated with the newer ls style engines.a glimpse into what is happening can be found by installing a pressure gage and noting pressures on a 2/3 ratio change.
