Default Gas...How long is to long?

Car has been sitting for half a year...started and ran a few times but for only 30 seconds total.

Is the gas bad? should I suck the gas out or just leave it alone?

Na, 6 months should be fine. Any more than that I'd say you would want to put some fuel stabilizer in before storing it but 6 months should be OK. If it is not full it might be wise to go fill it up but I have left cars sit that long and never had an issue with the gas.

The octane cooks off over time so after six months you're running some very low grade gas. You will feel the lack of power, and you should probably be easy on the throttle until you get a fresh tank in it. Fuel does start to eat things like fuel lines after a month or so. But I've never seen anything fail on a car that was less than twenty years old, and I've had plenty of cars sit for months at a time without issue.

Hotwire the fuel pump, disconnect the line at the filter, and let it pump all that **** out of there. Sure you could siphon it, but this way is more manley.

Or lift the car, disconnect the fuel lines under the car... hold them up with one hand as the fuel rules down your arm into your armpit burning you and theres nothing you can do because you have your other hand now getting the gas container to put the line in...

Hey, I'm assuming you put my motor in the car, and if so, and its starting and dying really quickly thats what it did before I had it tuned. It did that until it warmed up, I had to keep my foot on the gas a little to keep it running then after it got warm it would idle, albeit roughly. I had it tuned and afterwards it would start and run very easily, no problems.

Its in there right now...but still not all the way together. I need to do a few things first then I ll start it up. I also put in an LS2 chain as well...for the added peace of mind. You were spinning it to 6500 right? you ever worry about the chain?

lol I wish...I should of raiser hell with Katech actually cause of the lack of instructions on their rod bolts. But then again it could of just been from lack of experiance on my part...ie paper towels.

I bought TS6's engine. He was going 408. Its got stage 2 heads and a pretty decent sized cam, just need to start it up first haha.

I never worried about the chain, and to be honest I'm not sure if its even a stock chain. Might be aftermarket since the cam was changed.
