Default 350 S10 vs. My 5.0

We had a re-match, as you recall, he pulled me HARD, 4 cars or more our last race. Well, this run, we went from a dig to 80 or so and he only had 2-3 on me. He launches way better and seemed to hook up before I did. We did a 50-100 roll and he had me by 2.5 or so cars according to him. He CRAWLED on me, didnt freight train like last time. Timing appears to matter A LOT!

PS. If I had run him before he fixed his timing like I had done before I think I would have tied with him, meaning I think I have the same power as before the carb swap. Anyways, I need to go find someone else who is stock production car to run to see how im really doing until I can get to the track.

I am sure he will post up and correct anything I may have gotten wrong

THANKS FOR THE HELP WITH TUNING JOEY!!!!!

called MSD, they said the springs in my dizzy are not giving me hardly any advance until WAY up in the RPMS, I now have in my hand the CORRECT springs for full advance by about 3K and plan on installing them tomorrow. This should make a WORLD of difference according to them.

Just weighing in on the race. Had some good runs. I wouldnt classify it as a crawl but rather, a walk. It wasnt nearly as bad as the runs from the other day. I will say I told you so though because before we even ran I told you that you must have some heavy springs in the distributor because it wasnt advancing much below 3k. I am assuming that we should run pretty even once you get things figured out. We shall see. Later

I hope so, saw the diagrams you sent and I removed the strut tower brace (pain in the ***) and am hoping you have some needle-nose pliars.

He has 4.10s. There is really no reason why his car shouldnt be faster than my truck. I guess a couple tenths wouldnt be more then a length or two though. We will see next race.

Nah, it's classic Ford engineering man. They dont run worth a ****. H/C 302 not gettin' past a 350 w/ a carb/intake/baby cam...in a truck!

You know I'm just F'n with ya Stanger

IMO you need to get rid of those GT40's now that you've switched to a toilet. My buddies coupe went 12.0's al day long with the following- Holley 750, CC .530, and TF twisteds. Albiet it's obviously a little lighter but it was full int. and very streetable. It was his daily driver for several years and we'd drive 1.5hrs+ out of town on the weekends to streetrace.

You need to let that thing breath...

Nothing wrong with AFR's, that's what I'd buy. I was mainly trying to get across that ANY box stock heads would be a ton better than those 40's. That, and a decent size cam/carb would do wonders.

But yea, I understand the broke thing...your not alone on that one

I would hesitate to use those old springs on a screen door, if I thought kids might need to use it. HEAVY!!!!!!

Looks like my truck got bashed a bit. Its not incredibly hard to believe that a v8 s10 could run halfway decent. Yeah mine isnt heavily modded but it definitely holds its own on the street despite my 13.6 et. Rematch set for tomorrow.

woot, can't wait. those 4.10s in that sould scream. There's nothing wrong with the gt40 heads. Set up properly, I can't see why he can't hit 12s.

Do you have a traction problem stanger88?

NO I have no traction issues really and there is no way im in the 12's. Going to the strip tonight (cant post until sunday, going on a trip afterwards) but if I get 13.4 I will be suprised and happy. I am quickly becoming anti-ford. Either that or my friends S10 just woke up big time
